Rio de Janeiro, Aug 6 (ANI): Ace marksman Jitu Rai advanced to the finals of the 10m Air Pistol men's event after finishing sixth in the qualification round here on Saturday.

Rio Olympics: Shooter Jitu Rai qualifies for 10m Air Pistol finals
Rio de Janeiro, Aug 6 (ANI): Ace marksman Jitu Rai advanced to the finals of the 10m Air Pistol men's event after finishing sixth in the qualification round here on Saturday. The 25-year-old armyman, who is considered as India's biggest medal hope in shooting, produced a resilient performance to finish with an overall score of 580/600. China's Wei Pang finished first with a score of 590 ahead of second-placed Jongoh of Republic of Korea. After sliding down to 12th following a fourth-round 96, a determined Jitu then posted scores of 96 and 98 in the next two rounds to make the cut. However, Gurpreet Singh, the other Indian in the fray, crashed out of the event after finishing 20th. The finals of the event will take place later in the day. (ANI)
