Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Aug. 11 (ANI): Ace Indian shuttlers Manu Attri and Sumeeth B. Reddy commenced their Rio Olympics campaign on a sour note by suffering a straight-game defeat at the hands of Indonesian pair of Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan in the opening round of the men's doubles event here on Thursday.

Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Aug. 11 (ANI): Ace Indian shuttlers Manu Attri and Sumeeth B. Reddy commenced their Rio Olympics campaign on a sour note by suffering a straight-game defeat at the hands of Indonesian pair of Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan in the opening round of the men's doubles event here on Thursday. Attri and Reddy, who were making their debut, kept things neck to neck for most part of the first game, but they faltered from there significantly to end up suffering a 18-21, 13-21 defeat against the Indonesian pair at Riocentro-Pavilion. The Indian duo, who are placed in Group D with three matches to be played in the round robin stages, will now lock horns with fifth-ranked Chinese pair of Chai Biao and Hong Wei in the second game of on Saturday. Earlier today, the women's double pair of Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa also made a poor start to their Rio Olympics campaign as they were beaten by Japanese duo of Misaki Matsutomo and Ayaka Takahashi 15-21, 10-21 in their first round.
