Rio Olympics: Indian archers Deepika, Bombayla knocked out in pre-quarters

Rio de Janeiro, Aug 11 (ANI): Disappointment continued for the Indian contingent on day six of the competition as archers Deepika Kumari and Bombayla Devi were knocked out of the Rio Olympics after losing in their respective pre-quarterfinals of the women's individual recurve event here on Thursday.

Rio de Janeiro, Aug 11 (ANI): Disappointment continued for the Indian contingent on day six of the competition as archers Deepika Kumari and Bombayla Devi were knocked out of the Rio Olympics after losing in their respective pre-quarterfinals of the women's individual recurve event here on Thursday. Deepika suffered a 6-0 defeat against second-ranked Tan Ya-Ting of Chinese Taipei while compatriot Bombayla was beaten 2-6 by Mexico's Valencia Alejandra at the Sambadrome Arena. All eyes are now on Atanu Das as he remains India's last hope in archery. He will play his round-16 contest in the men's individual recurve on Friday. Meanwhile, ace Indian shuttlers Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa suffered a straight game defeat against Japanese duo of Misaki Matsutomo and Ayaka Takahashi in their first round of the women's doubles event here at the Rio Olympics.
