PV Sindhu has won hearts with splendid Olympic performance: Tendulkar
New Delhi, Aug 19 (ANI): Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar on Friday congratulated PV Sindhu, who became country's youngest individual Olympic medallist by clinching silver in badminton's women's singles event in Rio de Janerio, and said that the ace Indian shuttler won hearts with her splendid performance. "Well played India's youngest individual @Olympics medal winner @Pvsindhu1. You have won our hearts with the splendid performance. #Rio2016," Tendulkar said on Twitter. World number one Carolina Marin, known as the 'Rafa Nadal' of badminton in Spain, closed out a 19-21, 21-12, 21-15 victory over 21-year-old Sindhu who was absolutely ruthless in her Olympic debut. The Master Blaster also congratulated India's chief Badminton coach Pullela Gopichand for developing 'wonderful Indian badminton talent'. "Congrats #PullelaGopichand for helping develop some wonderful Indian #badminton talent to take on the world. Hats off & look forward to more!" Tendulkar said. Last evening, Sindhu had created history by becoming the first Indian shuttler to enter the Olympics Final. On the biggest day of her career, Sindhu never stopped fighting and has won the biggest prize in the history of Indian badminton - an Olympic silver, to go past Saina Nehwal's bronze four years ago in London. With the feat, Sindhu has also become the fifth Indian woman to clinch a medal in Olympics history after Karnam Malleswari, Mary Kom, Saina Nehwal and Sakshi Malik.(ANI)

Samson scripted a comeback for ages, as he overcame poor form and exclusion from the playing eleven to shine when everything was at stake. Having scored just 46 runs in five innings against NZ before this tournament, Samson lost his place in the team to Ishan Kishan. When a leftie-dominant top-order was struggling against off-spin, destiny handed Sanju a second chance and he grabbed it with every inch of life he had in his hands. Right from the virtual quarterfinal against West Indies to the title clash against New Zealand, Samson mesmerised one and all with his tidy strokeplay, timing and broke records to join legends like Virat Kohli, Shahid Afridi, etc. in the history books of the T20 World Cup.
