Jailed Pistorius rushed to hospital with wrist injuries
Johannesburg, Aug 7 (ANI): Paralympics runner Oscar Pistorius, who is serving a six-year sentence for killing his model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in 2013, was yesterday rushed to a hospital with injuries to his wrists after it was reported that he tried to harm himself. The Paralympics runner was taken to Pretoria's Kalafong Hospital at around 12.30 p.m. with wrist injuries. While correctional services spokesperson said Pistorius told authorities he had injured himself after falling out of bed, an inmate situated close to the hospital section said that he had injured himself intentionally, reports News24. It is reported that blades were subsequently found in Pistorius' cell during a search which was conducted yesterday afternoon. According to one of the security guards, the 29-year-old athlete had bad cuts on his wrists and the doctors kept wrapping bandages around them. Earlier in December, Pistorius, famously known as the Blade Runner, was found guilty of murder after the Supreme Court overturned his previous culpable homicide conviction following the state's successful attempt in challenging the verdict. Pistorius has always denied deliberately killing his girlfriend and claimed that he mistook her for an intruder before shooting her dead with four bullets fired through a closed toilet door. (ANI)
