ISSF World Cup: Shooter Shapath Bharadwaj finishes 6th in double trap

New Delhi [India], May 3 (ANI): Young Indian shooter Shapath Bharadwaj finished sixth in the finals of the men's double trap event at the ongoing third and final stage of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup Shotgun in Larnaka, Cyprus on Wednesday.

New Delhi [India], May 3 (ANI): Young Indian shooter Shapath Bharadwaj finished sixth in the finals of the men's double trap event at the ongoing third and final stage of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup Shotgun in Larnaka, Cyprus on Wednesday. Shapath reached his maiden ISSF World Cup stage final when he qualified on a shoot-off in fourth position out of the top six in the Men's Double Trap event, raising hopes of India's first medal of the World Cup. He could, however, managed a sixth-place finish in the final, being the first to be eliminated shooting 26 out of the first round of 30 targets in the finals. Shapath's teammates Sangram Dahiya and Ankur Mittal finished 17th and 19th respectively with identical scores of 127. India's Men's and Women's Trap team will compete on Friday. Meanwhile, Italy's former World and European Champion, Danielle Di Spigno displayed a Double Trap shooting master class, to hit 78 out of 80 targets on way to claim the gold in a Finals World Record performance. Russia's Artem Nekrasov won Silver with a score of 72 in the finals while Italian Davide Gasparini won the Bronze with a finals score of 56. The Finals World Record score of 75 was being jointly held by Australia's James Willet and India's Ankur Mittal which were made in the first and second World Cup stages earlier in New Delhi and Acapulco this year.(ANI)
