IDBI hands imported gymnastic equipment to Dipa Karmakar
Agartala (Guwahati) [India], Nov.24 (ANI):Industrial Development Bank of India (IDBI) recently felicitated Dipa Karmakar and her coach Bisweswar Nandi besides donating modern gymnasium equipments to the Indian trailblazing gymnast during a programme in the Dasarath Deb State Sports Complex here at Badharghat. As part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the bank imported the latest modern equipment from France worth Rs. 11,00,000 so that Dipa, along with other budding gymnasts, could practise with these modern facilities which are lacking in the region. K P Nair, Deputy Managing Director of IDBI said, "Through this initiative we expect to see many more Dipa's blossoms in Tripura. So it's a good initiative and I am sure we will carry it forward and it is not that we are saying that it is the end of the story, obviously not. If there is a further requirement we are always there." Dipa, India's first female Olympic gymnast, appreciated the initiative of the bank and said the equipment's are very useful and latest which are only available in the national capital. "I am grateful to IDBI that in such a short time they brought these equipments to our state from France. They are of the standard of the Olympics. I thank the IDBI for it. To the young gymnast I would say that earlier we use to say that we do not have modern equipment but now I shall say that other states do not have these equipment which we have now in our state. So, you all should practice well with them so that in the coming days many Olympians shall come out our state and represent our country and return with medals to our country and state," said Dipa. State Sports Minister Shahid Chowdhury and Deputy Speaker of Tripura Legislative Assembly Pabitra Kar, who both were also present in the felicitation programme, congratulated IDBI for its generous help. Earlier, Dipa and her coach Nandi jointly inaugurated a branch of IDBI Bank at Champamura in Tripura. (ANI)
