Fifth edition of Hockey India League to begin from Jan 21

New Delhi [India], Nov. 22 (ANI): The Hockey India on Tuesday announced fixtures for Hockey India League (HIL), the fifth edition of the tournament which will take place between January 21 and February 26.

Fifth edition of Hockey India League to begin from Jan 21
New Delhi [India], Nov. 22 (ANI): The Hockey India on Tuesday announced fixtures for Hockey India League (HIL), the fifth edition of the tournament which will take place between January 21 and February 26. The opening game will be held in Mumbai between hosts Dabang Mumbai and former champions Ranchi Rays. The semifinals will be played on February 25 while the final is scheduled for February 26. Both the matches will be played at the Jaypee Punjab Warriors' Stadium at Chandigarh. Apart from Dabang Mumbai and Ranchi Rays, the other franchises participating in the tournament are Delhi Waveriders, Jaypee Punjab Warriors, Kalinga Lancers and Uttar Pradesh Wizards. During the closed bid which was held for the 2017 edition took place on November 16, Gurbaj Singh was the first player to go in the bid for USD 99,000 to Ranchi Rays. Among the foreign players it was the German forward, Christopher Ruhr who went to Ranchi Rays, securing their second player at USD 75,000. Other notable bids were for Tom Craig (Kalinga Lancers), Robert van der Horst (Jaypee Punjab Warriors) and Seve Van Ass (Uttar Pradesh Wizards). (ANI)
