Eight medals to India's tally after day two of Track Asia Cup

New Delhi [India], Sept.15 (ANI): The Indian cyclists added two more bronze medals to their tally on the second day of the Track Asia Cup, which came to an end with four final rounds and other qualifiers, here at the IG Stadium Complex Velodrome on Thursday.

New Delhi [India], Sept.15 (ANI): The Indian cyclists added two more bronze medals to their tally on the second day of the Track Asia Cup, which came to an end with four final rounds and other qualifiers, here at the IG Stadium Complex Velodrome on Thursday. In the Men Junior category, team consisting of Sachin Desai, Raju Bati, Sandesh Uppar and Ashwin Patil added second bronze medal of the day for India in the Team Pursuit 4 km Race. They left behind the team from Hong Kong to claim the third position. Kazakhastan bagged the gold while second place was taken by UAE. Sanuraj P from India also took home the bronze medal in the 1km Time Trial Men Junior, clocking a time of 1:07.902. The gold medal went to TSZ Chun Law from Hong Kong, with a time of 1:07.015 while the silver medal was taken up by Muhammad Danieal Haikkal from Malaysia, who finished with a timing of 1:07.871. However, in the 1Km Time Trial Men Elite, India failed to take up any position. Chung Wing Leung of Hong Kong bagged the gold medal with a timing of 1:03.332. Shih Feng Kang from Taiwan and Maxim Nalyotov from Kazakhstan took the silver and bronze respectively, clocking 1:05.125 and 1:05.381. "This is event where world number six cyclist Sahil had to participate and India was confident of Gold but due to injury in training session, however despite having suffered the loss of a strong payer our team bagged the bronze medal." said RK Sharma, Coach Indian Team. Earlier, India had put up a commendable show on the opening day of the ongoing cyclist event, bagging a total of six medals, including three golds, two silvers and a bronze. India's Emerson and P Sanuraj will now play for bronze medal after the qualifier round today. Chun Long Leung and TSZ Chun Law of Hong Kong will be competing with each other for the gold and silver position respectively on Day three of the event. In the qualifier of the Men Elite Sprint Sprint Event Taiwan's Shih Feng Kang and Shih Hsin Hsiao will compete against each other for the gold and silver position and Iran's Ali Askari and Hassanali will be up against each other for the bronze position at the event tomorrow. The day two also saw Ranjit Singh hit badly after he couldn't maintain his balance and fell down on track in Sprint of Men Elite Repeachages immediate after completing the final lap. Following the incident, Ranjit said, "In the last lap, my complete focus was to beat the opponent and you can see the timings (11.622) where I tried my best to beat Iranian Hassanali Varposhti (11.602) and due to this I lost my focus and got injured. I was lucky that I didn't get any serious injury."(ANI)
