Disheartened McIlroy rues `pathetic` putting after PGA Championship exit
Johannesburg, July 30 (ANI): World number four golfer Rory McIlroy has admitted that he produced a 'pathetic' putting performance to finish a disappointing year without winning a major title after missing the cut at the PGA Championship. Despite firing a one-under-par 69, the 27-year-old Northern Irishman missed the cut by one stroke as he continued to struggle with his putting woes during the second round. Reflecting on his performance, McIlroy said that it was disheartening to make an early exit from the final major of the year despite making a improved show this week, Sport24 reported. The four-time major champion, who closed with a bogey at the par-5 18th, also admitted that he needs to do 'a lot of work' to fix his putter problems. McIlroy had also missed the cut at the US Open before sharing fifth two weeks ago at the British Open. (ANI)
