Delhi Dynamos FC sign Ghanaian international David Addy for ISL 3
New Delhi [India], Aug. 1 (ANI): In a bid to further strengthen their defense, Delhi Dynamos Football Club on Thursday announced the signing of Ghanaian left back, David Nii Addy, for the upcoming third season of the Indian Super League (ISL). The 26-year-old signed Delhi Dynamos F.C. after his two-year long stint with the Belgian Pro club Waasland Beveren, where he was a regular feature in the club's starting 11. He started his senior club career with Ghanaian side Inter Allies, and subsequently transferred to Danish Superliga club Randers F.C. in 2008. At his time with Randers, he made a total of 23 appearances which included three appearances for the club in the UEFA Europa League qualifiers. Commenting on his appointment, Nii Addy said,"I am very excited about coming to India and playing in the ISL. The club management has shown a lot of faith in me, and have given me a chance to play for them this season. I intend to prove to them and the fans that I can add to the team's performance, and I hope to win the ISL in my very first season with the Lions." The Ghanaian international has also played for Portuguese giants FC Porto and was later loaned to Academica de Coimbra in Portugal and Panetolikos in Greece. The ex-Porto player helped Vitoria S.C. to win domestic silverware, Taca de Portugal in 2013 and also helped them qualify for the 2013-2014 UEFA Europa League where he made successful appearances against Real Betis, Olympic Lyon and Rijeka. Head coach Gianluca Zambrotta was quoted on the signing, "David is a strong defender with great natural talent who will add power to our defense. He has spent time in Africa and Europe, and also holds great experience having played in the Europa League." In his international career he has won the FIFA U-20 World Cup as well as the African Youth Championship in 2009 with the Black Satellites. His debut for the senior national team came against Lesotho in 2008, since then he has made 21 appearances for the Black Stars. "We welcome David to the Delhi Dynamos F.C. squad. He has played for various European clubs, and performed well in the Europa League. We are looking forward to working with him this season, and help him maximize his potential under the guidance of Gianluca." said the Club's Chief Technical Officer Vishnu Madhu.(ANI)
