Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], June 28 (ANI): Odisha is ready and raring to host the prestigious 22nd Asian Athletics Championships at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar. The state, which has emerged a global destination for sports, has put together world class infrastructure and facilities in a record time - only 90 days after coming forward to host the continent's premier athletics event. Kalinga Stadium, the venue of Hockey World Cup in 2018, has laid out the best-in-class athletics track for the event and readied top standard infrastructure meeting all norms of International Association of Athletics (IAAF). The 22nd edition of the championships will see the largest contingent of athletes in the competition's history, with over 1000 athletes from 45 countries. It is double the number from 497 of 40 nations in the last edition held in Wuhan, China in 2015. With less than a month to go, the championship has gone Social, disseminating every minute information about the event to the public on social media platforms. From preparations, players' information, legends, participants, prospects, history, disciplines every tit bit is now being shared on social media handles of AAC 2017. As the event closes and during the games, all necessary information from participants, schedules, real time matches, results, etc. will also be made available on social media first to reach the maximum audience. Odisha's glorious culture, heritage and tourism will be promoted aggressively for the visitors. (ANI)
