Aditi Ashok clinches historic women's Indian Open title
Gurgaon (Noida) [Uttar Pradesh], Nov.13 (ANI):Indian teenage golfer Aditi Ashok scripted history on Sunday by becoming the first woman from the country to clinch a Ladies European Tour title at the Indian Open. The 18-year-old from Bengaluru struck an even par-72 on the final day to finish the tournament with a cumulative score of three-under 213 at the DLF Golf and Country Club here in Gurgaon. Aditi's overall performance included two birdies on the par-four second and 10th hole and three bogeys on the seventh, 13th and 17th hole. The Rio Olympics golfer, who started her day with two-stroke lead, needed a birdie or better on the final hole to avoid a three-way tie. Aditi held her nerve to seal her 13th birdie of the tournament on the par-5 18th to create history. Meanwhile, USA's Brittany Lincicome (USA) and Belen Mozo of Spain finished tied second. Kanphanitnan Muangkhumsakul of Thailand finished at fourth place with an overall score of one-under 215.(ANI)
