Ramanathapuram (Tamil Nadu) [India] Jan. 18 (ANI): Hockey Punjab came came out with a scintillating performance as they defeated Hockey Bihar 4-1 in their Pool B encounter on the seventh day of the ongoing Hockey India 7th Sub Junior National Hockey Championship 2017 (Women) 'A' Division.

Ramanathapuram (Tamil Nadu) [India] Jan. 18 (ANI): Hockey Punjab came came out with a scintillating performance as they defeated Hockey Bihar 4-1 in their Pool B encounter on the seventh day of the ongoing Hockey India 7th Sub Junior National Hockey Championship 2017 (Women) 'A' Division. Hockey Punjab got off to a good start with a stunning goal by Baljeet Kaur in the 16th minute which was followed by a double via Kashish's penalty stroke in the 20th minute and a splendid field goal in the 31st minute. Hockey Punjab, by halftime, were comfortably leading 3-0. They improved their scoreline with a 46th minute goal by team captain Rozy Bharati. Though Hockey Bihar's Sindhu Kumari scored in the 56th minute, the team's effort was not enough to stop Hockey Punjab from earning the three points. In another Pool B encounter, Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu outclassed Chhattisgarh Hockey with a 6-1 win. Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu women got off to a good start with S Malarvizhi's stunning double goal in the 10th and 16th minute of play giving her team 2-0 lead. M Nithya Shri (21'), R Nandhini (39'), L Krishnapriya (47'), R Nivetha (65') scored a goal each to take Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu to a comfortable win. Anjali Mahto (51') was the lone goal scorer for Chhattisgarh Hockey. Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy beat Hockey Madhya Pradesh 10-0 in their Pool C match. Captain Sadhna Sengar (10', 11' and 30') was the star performer for the winning team with three goals to her credit. Yogita Verma (7', 20', 28) too showed class with three goals while Sneha Singh scored twice in the 51st and 70th minute. Soniya Kumre (25') and Hritika Singh (27') scored a goal each to ensure their team won with a big margin and stay in contention. Hockey Andhra Pradesh beat Delhi Hockey 3-1 in a closely fought match. Hockey Andhra Pradesh were quick to take a three-goal lead with Roshitha Pulicharla earning the first goal in the 25th minute. Mary Lotla converted a penalty corner in the 31st minute while Sandhya Balagonda scored in the 34th minute. Delhi Hockey's Neha converted a penalty corner in the 35th minute, just seconds before going into the half-time. However, post half-time, both teams pressed hard to ensure the second half went goalless. Hockey Haryana, on the other hand, scored a stupendous 19-0 win against Bengal Hockey Association to earn three points in their Pool D encounter. Jyoti (18', 37', 39', 43', 56' and 68') of Hockey Haryana scored as many as six goals in her team's total tally of 19 goals. Deepika (27', 33' and 67') was the second highest scorer for the winning team with three goals while Manju Chorsiya (7' and 35') and Preeti (42'and 50') scored twice. Usha (10'), Raveena (14'), Sharmila Devi (16'), Bharati Saroha (20') and Mahima (44') scored a goal each in Hockey Haryana's emphatic win. Sports Authority of India drew with Hockey Mizoram 1-1 in their Pool A match. Akanksha Shukla scored for Sports Authority of India in the 41st minute while Agnes Malsawmkimi scored in the 42nd minute to split the points. Meanwhile, in the last match played on Monday, Hockey Patiala beat Hockey Mizoram 2-0. Kirandeep Kaur struck twice in the 27th and 43rd minute to ensure her team walked away with three points. (ANI)
