New Delhi [India], Nov. 20 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday congratulated ace Indian shuttler PV Sindhu who defeated China's Sun Yu to claim her maiden China Open Superseries title. "Congratulations to @Pvsindhu1 for her first super series title. Well played! #ChinaOpen," tweeted Prime Minister Modi. Meanwhile, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has also congratulated the Indian shuttler, and has wished her for future tournaments as well. In a pulsating final played in China's Fuzhou, Sindhu clinched her maiden Super Series Premier title after edging out Sun Yu in the final of the USD 700,000 China Open badminton tournament. The seventh-seed defeated Sun Yu 21-11, 17-12, 21-11 in a gruelling summit clash that lasted 69 minutes. This was the third straight year that an Indian woman made the China Open singles final. Ace Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal won the title in 2014 and finished runner-up in the 2015 edition of the event. The Rio Olympics silver medallist had suffered second-round exits at the Denmark and French Open tournaments. (ANI)
