Wrestler Sushil Kumar bags third straight CWG gold

Gold Coast [Australia], April 12 (ANI): Two-time Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar handed India their 14th gold by bagging the medal in the men's freestyle 74kg category of the ongoing 21st edition of the Commonwealth Games.

Playing his third consecutive Commonwealth Games final, a dominant Sushil hammered his South African opponent Johannes Botha 10-0 in the finals of the men's freestyle 74 kg category at the Carrara Sports Arena.

Sushil, the only Indian sportsperson to have two Olympic medals to his name, had earlier picked gold in the now disbanded 66kg category at the 2010 New Delhi edition, before clinching the same at the 2014 CWG in Glasgow in 74kg category.

Elsewhere, Kiran outclassed Katouskia Pariadhaven of Mauritius by technical superiority to clinch the bronze medal in the women's 76kg category.

This takes India's overall tally to 29 medals, including 14 gold, six silver and nine bronze medals. (ANI)
