Will continue amateur boxing after turning professional: Vikas Krishan

Confirming the news, he said that he has sought permission from the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) and the national federation has given a 'go ahead'.

New Delhi [India], Oct 25 (ANI): Asian Games bronze medalist Vikas Krishan Yadav on Thursday affirmed that he will turn professional in the coming year. Confirming the news, he said that he has sought permission from the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) and the national federation has given a 'go ahead'.
The Haryana pugilist further revealed that he has no plans of quitting amateur boxing. "I will only prepare for major amateur tournaments like the Olympics and Asian Games. Shredding or gaining 3-4 kg is no big deal. Thus, weight management will not be an issue. The fighting at professional level is more difficult and if I face the boxers at that level, I will have no fear of faring at an amateur level," Vikas stated.
"Everyone knows about United States of America's Floyd Mayweather, Mike Tyson, and Muhammad Ali. But, few Indians have been able to make a mark at the global sphere. You cannot achieve it at the amateur level. Thus, to bring more laurels to India, I have decided to go pro," Vikas told ANI.
Vikas is scheduled to depart for training as soon as he gets a green signal from BFI and Haryana police department. "You don't have to win, you have to knock out your opponent in professional boxing. The spectators want to see blood, people getting down. The transformation will not be difficult as I have faced some of the pro opponents during the 2012 and 2016 Olympics. There are also more competitions which will definitely give me more experience," he concluded. (ANI)
