New Delhi [India], July 27 (ANI): Commonwealth Games (CWG) gold-medallist weightlifter Sanjita Channu has said that she would fight back to prove herself clean in the doping case.
The comment came few days after the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) sent a letter to the Government of India according to which the Indian Wrestling Federation (IWF) admitted to committing a mistake in giving proper and right details of two different urine sample of the weightlifter.
"I will fight to prove myself clean in this doping issue. I have done nothing wrong. After CWG, I had planned a lot of things, especially for the Asian Games. I had planned to perform well in the Asian Games and get gold for the country. However, it won't be possible now," Channu said.
"The IWF had made mistake in coding. How they can say it lightly?" she added.
On May 15, the IWF provisionally suspended Chanu for four years after her 'A' sample was tested positive for a banned anabolic agent.
Reflecting on the same, the 24-year-old stated that she is hurt by the allegation and that want a proper inquiry into the matter.
Meanwhile, the IWF refused to comment on the NADA letter to the Government of India and said that no further statement would be issued until the case is closed.
Chanu, who was also the champion of Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2014, won the gold medal for the country at the Gold Coast CWG in the 53kg category in weightlifting, as she lifted 84kg in the snatch category and 108kg in the clean and jerk category. (ANI)
