Johannesburg [South Africa], Sept.10 (ANI): Two-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka defeated Kei Nishikori of Japan in a gripping semifinal contest to set up a summit clash with top-ranked Novak Djokovic in the US Open at Flushing Meadows, New York.

Johannesburg [South Africa], Sept.10 (ANI): Two-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka defeated Kei Nishikori of Japan in a gripping semifinal contest to set up a summit clash with top-ranked Novak Djokovic in the US Open at Flushing Meadows, New York. Despite losing the opening set, Wawrinka bounced back with more intent, claiming a 4-6, 7-5, 6-4, 6-2 win over the Japanese rival in a match began amid sweltering humidity at the Arthur Ashe Stadium, Sport24 reported. Nishikori, who reached the final in New York in 2014, had swept aside Wimbledon champion and gold medallist at Rio Olympics Andy Murray in the fourth round. Meanwhile, Djokovic trounced Novak Djokovic downed Gael Monfils 6-3, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 to reach his seventh US Open final. (ANI)
