Vibrant Khelo India logo unveiled

New Delhi [India], Jan. 08 (ANI): The vibrant Khelo India logo, reflecting the freshness, agility and vitality of New India, has recently been unveiled by the Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Rajyavardhan Rathore at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

The logo also conveys an impression of fitness and competitiveness.

At the time of the unveiling, Rathore said they were rapidly moving towards the actualisation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of new India.

"As the national programme for development of sports, Khelo India, will go a long way in achieving the twin objectives of mass participation and promotion of excellence in sports. Hon'ble Prime Minister sees the future of India aligning with the youth of the nation, adopting sport as part of its culture," he said.

The three-stroke Khelo India logo, designed by Ogilvy India, has in-built modularity, allowing plenty of adaptability and flexibility into endless pictorial forms. The colours of the Indian flag evoke a sense of National pride and team-work.

"We are also excited that there has been wonderful response from across the country for the flagship event, the inaugural Khelo India School Games that will begin on January 31. These competitions will act as avenues for identification of budding sporting talents in specific sports disciplines. We are proud that everyone is coming together in the movement," he added.

The inaugural Khelo India School Games 2018 will be held from January 31 for under-17 age group (boys and girls) across 16 sports disciplines.

The 'Khelo India' programme, which was launched by former Sports Minister Vijay Goel, was later revamped by his successor Rathore.

In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision, Khelo India looks to infuse a culture of sports at the grassroots level.

The government of India has approved Rs 1,756 crore for a period of three years for the revamping of 'Khelo India'. (ANI)
