Turkey to host World Rally Championship 2018

Ankara [Turkey], Oct 26 (ANI): This year, Turkey is all set to host the 10th installment of the 'World Rally Championship' (WRC) in September in popular resort town Marmaris, a Turkish motorsports body, on Wednesday said.

Turkey to host World Rally Championship 2018

Ankara [Turkey], Oct 26 (ANI): This year, Turkey is all set to host the 10th installment of the 'World Rally Championship' (WRC) in September in popular resort town Marmaris, a Turkish motorsports body, on Wednesday said.

Turkey's Automotive Sports Federation (TOSFED), in a statement, said that the decision came after International Automotive Federation (FIA) officials visited Marmaris Rally, held on Turkey's southwestern coast over the weekend, reports Anadolu Agency.

The Marmaris Rally is considered as a rehearsal event after Turkey got included into the WRC calendar.

The statement read, officials from the international motorsports body, including its Rally Commission Head Jarmo Mahonen and Safety Delegate Michele Mouton, came to Marmaris to observe the rally, adding, the officials praised the quality of the stages.

The statement further said, officials from M-Sport World Rally Team and Toyota Gazoo Racing, both competing at the WRC next year, also examined the site. (ANI)
