Socceroos coach prospect Gianni Di Biasi sacked

New Delhi [India], Nov 28 (ANI): Spanish football club Alaves have sacked Gianni De Biasi just two months after

appointing him and are searching for their third coach of the season.

According to news.com.au, the 61-year-old coach Gianni Di Biasi, who was approached by Football Federation

Australia in July about becoming the Australia national soccer team Socceroos's manager job, has been sacked just

two months into the new role.

Earlier in July, Di Biasi revealed that he had been approached by the FFA about the Socceroos coaching job, months

before former coach Ange Postecoglou's decision to stand down from the position.

Di Biasi, at that moment was without a job but was appointed Alaves boss in September, replacing Luis Zubeldia

after they had lost their opening five games of the season.

"The club have decided to terminate the contract of Gianni De Biasi after the last results obtained in LaLiga. For

the moment, Javier Cabello will be in charge of leading the squad," Alaves announced on their official website.

"We thank Gianni De Biasi for the work done in this period and we wish him the best of luck in his professional

future," it added.

De Biasi's first game in charge ended in a home defeat to Real Madrid and despite guiding Alaves to their two league

wins, Saturday's home defeat to Eibar, that left Alaves bottom of the table, was their sixth in eight matches.

Gianni De Biasi qualified Albania for their maiden European Championships in 2016 and was in the role for six years.(ANI)
