London [UK], July 11 (ANI): Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza and her Belgian partner Kirsten Flipkens crashed out of the Wimbledon's women's doubles event after suffering a straight-sets defeat against Switzerland's Martina Hingis and Chan Yung-jan of Taiwan in the Round of 16 Match on Monday. Third seeded Hingis and Yung-jan defeated the 13th seed 6-2, 6-4 in a match that lasted for one hour and seven minutes. The Indo-Belgian pair, ranked 13 in the world, never looked in the contention and were outplayed by their opponents. After holding serve in the first two games, both the players failed to hold serve and they were thrashed 2-6. The Swiss-Taiwanese duo maintained the pressure in the second set as well and won it 6-4 to enter the quarterfinals. The Indian tennis ace had won the Wimbledon title in 2015 with Hingis. Mirza, currently ranked 7 in WTA doubles ranking, is still in contention in the mixed doubles at the tournament where she will be playing the quarter-finals with Ivan Dodig on Tuesday.(ANI)
