"We are committed to making the sports sector a safe environment for women and children and will not hesitate to take strong action against those who violate it," said Director General (DG) of Sports Authority of India (SAI) Neelam Kapur.
"Our focus is also prevention- We are beginning an awareness programme on Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) and Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal (POSH) Acts to prevent such incidents in the future," she added.
SAI had earlier received complaints of sexual harassment from three of its regional centres, prompting it to sack one coach and order the compulsory retirement of an employee.
An internal probe was also launched against another coach. (ANI)
