Rajnath wishes wrestling team ahead of Asian games

New Delhi [India], August 13 (ANI): Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday felicitated the Indian wrestling team and extended his good wishes to them ahead of the upcoming 18th edition of the Asian Games.

New Delhi [India], August 13 (ANI): Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday felicitated the Indian wrestling team and extended his good wishes to them ahead of the upcoming 18th edition of the Asian Games.
The minister briefed the players about the increasing importance of sports at global levels and expressed confidence that they would make India proud, irrespective of the results.
"When Indian players win medals in international events, all the countrymen get filled with happiness and pride. Earlier, an economically strong country used to have a good reputation at the global level but today, performance in sports field has become another parameter for the same," Rajnath said.
"I wish you all the very best. I am confident that wherever you stay, whatever sport you play, you will make every Indian proud," he added.
Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the Chef de Mission of the Indian contingent for the Asian Games, was also present at the ceremony along with head coach of freestyle wrestling, Jagminder Singh.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhushan said that he is delighted to get an invitation from the Home Minister and thanked him for wishing the players before the Asian games.
Reflecting on the team's preparation ahead of the Asian Games, Jagminder Singh said that the players are fully prepared and he is pretty hopeful of them getting medals for the country.
"Everybody has prepared very well for the event. We are hoping to get medals in freestyle," Jagmindra Singh said.
Asian Games are slated to be held from August 18 to September 2 in the Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Palembang. (ANI)
