Abu Dhabi [UAE], Mar 19 (ANI): India's special Olympics athlete Jitendra Pawal faced many hardships while preparing for the Special Olympics World Games, but the 19-year old did not give up.
As a result, he has been able to realise his dream to represent India at the biggest sporting and humanitarian event of the year.
Not only that! Pawal also won the gold medal in the 200m race in his division at the Dubai Police Stadium on Sunday.
Pawal, who has a very humble background, said he had been training for a month before the event kicked off and was feeling on top of the world after winning the gold medal.
His coach Harish was all praise for the athlete.
“If God has taken away some abilities from these people, he has also blessed them with determination and many other unique and special abilities as well as talents," he said.
"Society should try to identify the unique and special abilities of the determined ones and polish them so that they can play an important role in society," said Harish.
“One should not overlook them. Instead, everyone should encourage these people so that they can be a very important part of the society and are able to contribute towards the betterment of the country,” he said. (ANI)
