ONGC sportspersons eye Asian Games 2018

New Delhi [India], August 18 (ANI): The sportspersons of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) are eyeing to scale new heights at Asian Games 2018 after a successful campaign in Commonwealth Games.

New Delhi [India], August 18 (ANI): The sportspersons of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) are eyeing to scale new heights at Asian Games 2018 after a successful campaign in Commonwealth Games.
ONGC has one of the largest contingents of athletes at Asian Games which is being held from August 18 to September 2, 2018, in Jakarta. 38 ONGC sportspersons including 19 regular employees from various disciplines and an equal number of athletes on scholarship will be participating in the Games.
In a bid to promote gender equality, the total ONGC contingent comprises 50 per cent women athlete.
Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of ONGC, Shashi Shanker, said, "ONGC has a policy of nurturing sports talent in different fields. The success of its sportspersons reflects the company's focus on the development of games and sports."
Shanker further wished success to the athletes and lauded them for their performance in the Commonwealth Games.
"I wish all Indian athletes phenomenal success in Asian Games-2018. The ONGC contingent displayed its mettle at the recently concluded Commonwealth Games at Gold Coast. ONGC sportspersons bagged 13 medals, which is the highest tally of medals from corporate. These included 5 Gold, 3 Silver, and 5 bronze, contributing to the 66-medal tally of Team India," said the CMD.
ONGC gives special attention towards the selection of its sportsperson and sends them abroad for specialised training. In addition, the progress of the athletes is monitored at each stage in tandem with the sports federations. (ANI)
