Nepal hosts first International Wheelchair Cricket Tournament

Kathmandu [Nepal], Dec 15 (ANI): The first ever International Wheelchair Cricket Tournament was organised on Friday in Nepal's Kathmandu.

The hooting for each of the team was heating the Tribhuwan University ground here where the teams from different nations are involved in T20 series.

The tournament has participation of teams from Nepal, India and Bangladesh which is supported by the Sushil Koirala Memorial Foundation and technical assistance from the Kathmandu Cricket Training Center.

Talking to ANI, Indian wheelchair player, Rahul said, "It is good. There should be more competitions like this to unite our Asian and SAARC countries."

With the commencement of the first series of the T20 Wheelchair competition, the players now are hoping for continuation of such events to empower differently able people.

Expressing views on event, another player, Raju Katuwal from Nepal, said, "This should be taken forward with organising cricket, basketball, swimming and other sports."

"People with different abilities are benefitted as the movements are witnessed there and above it playing for the nation is the most important thing," he said.

The first ever series of Wheel Chair competition will conclude on Saturday with the final match between Nepal and Bangladesh. (ANI)
