Milos Raonic joins forces with Richard Krajicek
Johannesburg [South Africa], Dec.21 (ANI): Canadian tennis star Milos Raonic has announced former world number four and 1996 former Wimbledon champion Richard Krajicek as his new coach ahead of the 2017 season. The 25-year-old had recently parted ways with Carlos Moya after mutually agreeing to end their partnership after just 11 months. Raonic's decision came despite the impressive season which saw him reach his first Grand Slam final and finish at career-high third rank in the world behind Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic. Confirming the news of Krajicek's appointment on his Instagram account, Raonic said it is great to have the former in his team before adding that hopefully his experience would help him in achieving greater heights in the coming future. "It's great to have Krajicek, alongside my team, for the upcoming season in attempt to reach new and higher goals in 2017. I worked with Krajicek for few days already before Australian Open and I am sure Krajicek with his experience and being a Wimbledon champion can help me reach my goals. I look forward doing great things together," Sport24 quoted Raonic as saying. It was not the first time that Raonic had approached Krajicek . He reportedly made proposals back in June, but the Dutchman opted to join Stan Wawrinka at that time. Earlier in July, Krajicek categorically named Raonic as a serious Wimbledon contender for the next few years. "If he doesn't win it this year, he's going to win it in the next two years. For the next four or five years he's going to be a contender here," he had said. While Raonic was runner-up to top-ranked Murray at Wimbledon in July, he also made it to the semi-finals of the ATP World Tour finals in London. (ANI)
