Men's Hockey WC: Odisha CM unveils 'Countdown Clock

Bhubaneshwar (Odisha), Aug 29 (ANI): With only three months left for the commencement of the Men's Hockey World Cup in India, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday unveiled the countdown clock in the run-up for the mega sporting event.

Bhubaneshwar (Odisha), Aug 29 (ANI): With only three months left for the commencement of the Men's Hockey World Cup in India, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday unveiled the countdown clock in the run-up for the mega sporting event.
A promotional campaign named, 'My Heart Beats for Hockey' was also launched by the Chief Minister at the iconic Kalinga stadium.
"I am glad to be here today to join the campaign, "My Heart Beats for Hockey," as well as unveiling the countdown clock. As it's 90 days to go, it will rhyme with the heart of India and Odisha in the run-up to the mega sporting event," Patnaik said after unveiling the countdown clock.
The Odisha government also celebrated the birthday of Hockey legend Dhyan Chand which is celebrated as the National Sports Day across the country.
"Today we are also celebrating the birthday of legendary Dhyan Chand as National Sports Day. I pay my tributes to this illustrious sports person who continues to be the source of inspiration for millions and millions of hockey lovers," Patnaik added as he paid rich tributes to the hockey maestro.
"Hockey is a prominent sport in Odisha and this state has produced some brilliant players. That's why this is going to be very special for the people of Odisha. The Chief Minister deserves praise for promoting the game of hockey and other sports as well," said former Indian hockey captain, Dilip Tirkey.
Stating that the tournament will be immensely successful, Hockey India Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Elena Norman said, "It's going to be exciting 90 days. Everyone loves hockey in India, so I feel, we are going to get a huge support here."
The 14th edition of the Hockey World Cup is slated to take place in Odisha from November 28 to December 16 and 16 teams will along with host India will vie for the coveted trophy. (ANI)
