Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra donates for COVID-19 relief

India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the Indian men's cricket team's win in the final of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, where they defeated New Zealand to defend their title and become the first team to win two successive T20 World Cups. President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the Indian team, as they scripted history by becoming the only team to defend their ICC T20 World Cup title, after beating New Zealand in the final in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Bangar hailed India's ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah ahead of the India vs New Zealand T20 World Cup 2026 final on Sunday, hailing him as the "Don Bradman of bowling." Aakash Chopra, on the other hand, cautioned the Indian batters against New Zealand's pace spearhead Matt Henry ahead of the T20 WC summit clash in Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium.

Speaking on JioHotstar, Chopra praised the New Zealand duo for their destructive performances at the top of the order, particularly against teams like South Africa and the UAE, where they dominated opposition bowling attacks with attacking strokeplay.

Going into the final, India are chasing a few firsts - first to defend a T20 World Cup title, first host team to win the T20 World Cup and the first to three T20 World Cup championships. For New Zealand, the biggest challenges will be how to keep the star-studded Indian batting line-up relatively quiet and how to deal with Jasprit Bumrah's unerring line and length.
