Johannesburg [South Africa], Dec.20 (ANI): Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova has been ruled out of next month's Hopman Cup mixed teams' tennis tournament due to a foot injury.

Johannesburg [South Africa], Dec.20 (ANI): Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova has been ruled out of next month's Hopman Cup mixed teams' tennis tournament due to a foot injury. Kvitova, who was due to contest for the Czech Republic team in the upcoming event, revealed that the MRI has confirmed that his foot would require some more time to heal. "I am so disappointed that I cannot play at the @hopmancup The results of an MRI have confirmed that my foot is healing, but not as quickly as we would have liked. The Hopman Cup is a fantastic event and I'm sorry I won't be able to represent my country there," Kvitova said in a series of tweets. However, Kvitova, who is suffering from a stress fracture, expressed hope to become fit enough to play the first major of the year---Australian Open beginning later in January, reports Sport24. As a result, three-time Grand Slam doubles champion Lucie Hradecka will replace Kvitova in the Czech Republic team and will partner with Adam Pavlasek. The duo will lock horns with United States pair of Jack Sock and Coco Vandeweghe in their opening match on January 1.(ANI)
