Djokovic ropes in analyst Craig O'Shannessy ahead of Oz Open

Melbourne [Australia], December 15 (ANI): Former world number one Novak Djokovic has roped in Australian tennis analyst Craig O'Shannessy in his support staff, as the Serbian maestro is bidding to clinch his seventh Australian Open title next month.

O'Shannessy will join Andre Agassi and recently-retired Radek Stepanek of Czech Republic in Djokovic's coaching team.

The Australian tennis analyst, who had helped Dustin Brown to clinch a stunning 2015 Wimbledon win over current world number one Rafael Nadal, works in different parts of the tennis community.

O'Shannessy's works mostly involve the use of data to drill into match patterns and trends while he also works for the ATP Tour, news.com.au reported.

Last week, he had also spent time with Djokovic during the Serbian tennis star's training camp in Monte Carlo.

Earlier this month, Djokovic had called in Stepanek in his coaching team for the upcoming season.

The news had come just ten days after Stepanek bid adieu to professional tennis following more than 20 years on the ATP World Tour.

Djokovic, whose season was cut short after sustaining a right elbow injury at Wimbledon, is slated to return to action with the season-opening Qatar ExxonMobil Open in Doha.

Meanwhile, the first grand slam of the year will begin on January 15 and end on 28. (ANI)
