Despite Asian Games feat, Swapna Barman still lacks adequate footwear

Siliguri (West Bengal) [India], Sept 28 (ANI): Heptathlon Athlete Swapna Barman has revealed that she still does not own a proper pair of shoes to compete in the upcoming competitions, despite bagging a gold medal for the country in the recently-held Asian Games in Jakarta.

Siliguri (West Bengal) [India], Sept 28 (ANI): Heptathlon Athlete Swapna Barman has revealed that she still does not own a proper pair of shoes to compete in the upcoming competitions, despite bagging a gold medal for the country in the recently-held Asian Games in Jakarta.
Speaking to ANI, Barman said, "Shoes have not been made yet. The state and the central government had given the assurance of making shoes. However, I am yet to receive any shoe to be tried. I might go to Germany for the same."
Reflecting on her next target, the athlete clearly stated that she is eying the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
"My next main target is 2020 Tokyo Olympics. There is one Asian Championship before that, but there is time for that. Let's see what happens," she said.
Barman had struck a gold medal in the women's Heptathlon Athletics event at the recently-concluded 18th edition of the Asian Games with an accumulated score of 6026 points. (ANI)
