'Deeply honoured' to be appointed as member of Olympic Channel Commission: Narinder Batra

In a communication issued by the IOA President, PT Usha, the initiative aims to highlight the Olympic Movement's commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility, while encouraging communities across the country to celebrate Olympic Day through meaningful environmental action.

At present, 120 anganwadis involved in the programme are run entirely by women, who have together conducted more than 1,200 OVEP sessions. The initiative has strengthened the role of anganwadi workers as educators and community leaders by equipping them with tools to teach values such as fairness, teamwork and respect through sport-based activities.

At present, at least five bodies, the All India Karate-Do Federation (AIKDF), Karate Association of India (KAI), Karate India Organisation (KIO), Karate India and The Karate Federation of India (TKFI), have laid claim to being the official governing authority for the sport in India.

According to a release, the delegation congratulated the IOA on the reactivation of the National Olympic Academy of India, which was formally relaunched on January 9, recognising this decision as an essential institutional step towards strengthening the Olympic Movement in India through education, values-based leadership, and long-term capacity-building.

During the meeting, Asimakopoulos said that he was impressed to see "The Plan, the strategy and the vision that the Sports Ministry has put in place in order to play a major role in the Olympic Movement." He added that after seeing all the sports programmes being run by the government, the IOA is keen to extend help to strengthen Olympic education in the country, as per a press release by the Union Sports Ministry.
