Gold Coast [Australia], April 10 (ANI): Indian pugilists continued to display a rich vein of form at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games as on Day 6 they assured five more medals for the country after booking their place in the semi-finals of their respective weight category on Tuesday.

Gold Coast [Australia], April 10 (ANI): Indian pugilists continued to display a rich vein of form at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games as on Day 6 they assured five more medals for the country after booking their place in the semi-finals of their respective weight category on Tuesday.

After boxers Amit Panghal and Naman Tanwar advanced into the last four of their respective weight category, Hussamuddin Mohammed, Satish Kumar and Manoj Kumar also defeated their opponents to secure three more medals for India.

Hussamuddin Mohammed defeated Zambia's Everisto Mulenga 5-0 in the quarter-finals of the men's 56 kg category.

The Indian won the bout with decisions of 30-26, 30-26, 30-26, 30-25, and 30-26 from the five judges.

In another quarter-final clash, Veteran boxer Manoj Kumar outplayed Australia's Terry Nickolas 4-1 in the 69 kg category. Kumar defeated the Australian 29-28, 27-30, 29-28, 30-27, 30-27 in a five round bout.

Satish Kumar, the last boxer in fray, beat Nigel Paul of Trinidad and Tobago 4-1 in men's heavyweight (91kg) category.

Kumar defeated Paul 29-28, 30-27, 30-27, 28-29, 29-28.

India are now standing at the third spot with 21 medals, including 11 gold, four silver and six bronze medals. (ANI)
