Nanjing (China), Aug 2 [ANI]: Thrilled after reserving her seat in the quarter-final of the BWF World Championships 2018, Indian shuttler PV Sindhu on Thursday said she is "really happy with her performance".
The Rio Olympic silver medalist cruised into the quarter-final of the tournament on Thursday as she humbled her South Korean opponent Ji Hyun Sung 21-10, 21-18.
Reacting on her dominating victory, Sindhu said, "Really happy with the performance. It was a good match overall. Even though I won the first set easily, the second game was not easy where I was actually trailing almost like 7-2. Still, I gave my best. I had hope in me. Each point was very important for me because even after trailing I came back and those few points were really important."
Sindhu will now face Japanese shuttler Nizomi Okuhara to get into the semi-final of the tournament on August 3.
Speaking on the quarter-final clash with Okuhara, an opponent against whom the Indian shuttler suffered a loss in July's Thailand Open final, Sindhu said, "We have been playing against each other for a while and tomorrow will be yet another one and a very important one, I can tell you one thing it will be a long match so need to be prepared and I will give my 100 percent."
Meanwhile, star shuttler Saina Nehwal also booked her ticket into the quarterfinals as she thumped Ratchanok Inthanon of Thailand 21-16 21-19. Nehwal will take on the Olympic champion and two-time world champion, Carolina Marin of Spain in the quarter-final clash.(ANI)
