BAI chief to take up IndiGo staff misbehaviour with Ministry

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], November 4 (ANI): Badminton Association of India (BAI) president Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said that he will take the matter of alleged misbehaviour with ace shuttler P V Sindhu by an Indigo staff to the ministry.

Biswa said, "BAI will take this matter to the concerned ministry so that there is no misbehavior with players. It is also important to ensure that along with the players there is no misbehavior with passengers."

Earlier in the day, Sindhu took to Twitter to report about alleged ill-treatment she received from the airlines while she was flying to Mumbai from Hyderabad.

She tweeted, "Sorry to say ..I had a very bad experience when I was flying by 6E 608 flight to Bombay on November 4 the ground staff by name Mr Ajeetesh."

"Ground staff (skipper) Mr Ajeetesh behaved very badly and rudely with me. When the air hostess Ms Ashima tried to advise him to behave properly with the passenger (me) but to my surprise he behaved rudely with her," she added.

IndiGo, however, has rebuffed Sindhu's claims, saying, the ground operations remained calm with her throughout and were carrying out their duty in the best interest of a safe and reliable operation.

Sindhu, however, did not give any details about the incident but IndiGo in a statement said that the player was carrying an oversized bag and was asked to move it to the cargo hold of the aircraft.

IndiGo further said that after several requests to the shuttlers' manager, they finally consented to the removal of the bag from the cabin.

However, Sindhu's father, PV Ramana, who was also traveling with her, denied IndiGo's statement saying she was carrying her kit bag with her and not any another baggage.

"It was the kit bag and not any baggage which we had been carrying since last 10 years in every aircraft," Sindhu's father said.

"The staff misbehaved with Sindhu while handling her kit bag. Sindhu had requested the staff member to tackle it carefully as there were racquets inside. But the person behaved rudely with her and also the airhostess who interfered," he added.(ANI)
