Asian Games: Sharath, Manika crash out from individual events

Jakarta [Indonesia], August 31 (ANI): India's Sharath Kamal and Manika Batra got eliminated from the Individual Table Tennis event after losing in their respective pre-quarter clashes at the ongoing 18th edition of the Asian Games.

Jakarta [Indonesia], August 31 (ANI): India's Sharath Kamal and Manika Batra got eliminated from the Individual Table Tennis event after losing in their respective pre-quarter clashes at the ongoing 18th edition of the Asian Games.
While Batra was handed over a crushing 2-11, 8-11, 8-11, 11-16, 4-11 defeat by her Chinese opponent Manyu Wang in Women's Singles event, Kamal lost to Chinese Taipei player 7-11, 11-9, 10-12, 16-14, 9-11 in his individual match.
Earlier, the duo had settled for a bronze medal in Table Tennis Mixed Doubles event after going down against Chinese pair of Ji Song An and Hyo Sim Cha 11-9, 11-5, 13-11, 11-4, 11-8 in a thrilling last-four clash.
In squash, Indian squad of Joshana Chinappa, Dipika Pallikal, Sunayna Kuruvilla and Tanvi Khanna have qualified for the final of Women's Team event after defeating the Malaysian side 2-0 in the semi-finals.
India's total medal tally at the prestigious tournament stands at 59-thirteen gold, twenty one silver and twenty five bronze. (ANI)
