Asiad TT: Sharath, Manika settle for bronze in mixed doubles

Jakarta [Indonesia], August 29 (ANI): India's Sharath Kamal and Manika Batra settled for a bronze medal in the Table Tennis Mixed Doubles event after going down in the semi-finals of the ongoing 18th edition of the Asian Games.

Jakarta [Indonesia], August 29 (ANI): India's Sharath Kamal and Manika Batra settled for a bronze medal in the Table Tennis Mixed Doubles event after going down in the semi-finals of the ongoing 18th edition of the Asian Games.
Sharath and Manika went down against Chinese pair of Ji Song An and Hyo Sim Cha 11-9, 11-5, 13-11, 11-4, 11-8 in a thrilling last-four clash to settle for the bronze.
After conceding a 9-11 defeat in the opening game, the Indian pair failed to make a comeback and suffered a 5-11 loss in the second game.
Sharath and Manika finally managed to register their first win of the match when they edged past the Chinese duo 13-11 in a closely-fought third game.
Thereafter, the Indian team failed to continue their momentum and lost their next two consecutive games against the Chinese duo to knock themselves out of the race for the finals.
India's total medal tally at the prestigious tournament now stands at 51-- nine gold, 19 silver, 23 bronze. (ANI)
