14-year-old from Delhi clinches Junior Golf World C'ship in Malaysia

New Delhi [India], Dec 23 (ANI): A 14-year-old boy from Delhi, Arjun Bhati has won the 2018 US Kids Junior Golf World Championship which was held in Malaysia from December 18 to 21.
Bhati defeated American golf player Axl Mohru by three shots to win the event which saw the participation of 29 countries.
Speaking exclusively to ANI, the teenager said that he wants to be a number one golfer and win an Olympics gold for his country. He further stated that he is working hard to make his dreams come true.
"I want to become a number one golfer and win an Olympic gold medal for India. To achieve this dream, I am working more on our fitness and make sure to practice 6 to 8 our every day," Bhati said.
Talking about his experience while playing in the tournament, the 2016 Kids Junior Golf World Championship winner said that the event taught him how to handle the pressure well. He further stated that playing alongside the world's best golfers was an entirely different experience which made him more confident as a player, and improved his accuracy.
"My journey has been very good till now. I have grown more than last year. My game has also improved. I feel more confident on the golf course and off the golf course too. My experience in Malaysia was pretty good. Players from around the world were there. 29 countries participated in the event so it was a very tough competition. I learnt how to handle the pressure well and improved my accuracy, as well," Bhati said.
"Playing with best players in the world is a different kind of experience. I am more confident after playing in Malaysia and I am hoping to continue performing well in the upcoming events," he added.
Bhati also stressed on the need to improve the standards of golf in India. He suggested the Indian government to give more support to the golfers and send them to participate in foreign competitions so that they could get more experience and exposure.
"The Indian government should support Indian golfers more. They should send junior golfer abroad to get more experience and exposure. The government should build better golf courses. In India, players should get a much better team so that they can perform well," he said.
In 2016, Bhati had defeated South Africa's Methu Denish to secure the first position in the Kids Golf World Championship. (ANI)
