Rooney confirms he'll stay at Man U, quashes China move
London [U.K], Feb.24 (ANI): Ending months of speculation over his future with Manchester United, England captain Wayne Rooney has confirmed that he will not be leaving the Old Trafford club anytime soon. The 31-year-old striker, however, admitted that he has received number of offers to depart from the club this month. Rooney has been linked with a move to China, with his agent, Paul Stretford, understood to have been in China this week speaking to the interested clubs. However, the England skipper insisted that he is not interested in a move from United and is looking forward to "play a full part" in the rest of the Premier League club's season. "Despite the interest which has been shown from other clubs, for which I'm grateful, I want to end recent speculation and say that I am staying at Man United," the Guardian quoted Rooney as saying. "I hope I'll play a full part in helping the team in its fight for success on four fronts. It's an exciting time at the club and I want to remain a part of it," he added. Although Rooney's contract of worth around 300,000 pounds per week is due to expire in 2019, the speculation that United's record goal-scorer could leave Old Trafford arouse after manager Jose Mourinho stated this week that there was "no guarantee" that the striker would stay.
