India achieve highest FIFA ranking in six years

New Delhi [India], Oct.20 (ANI): The Indian football team on Thursday made an encouraging progress in the latest Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) rankings, climbing up 11 places to 137th in the list.

New Delhi [India], Oct.20 (ANI): The Indian football team on Thursday made an encouraging progress in the latest Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) rankings, climbing up 11 places to 137th in the list. India, who defeated 114th ranked Puerto Rico in an International Friendly in Mumbai in September, have 230 points in the recent rankings and are standings above the likes of Hong Kong, Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Thailand. India, under the tutelage of Stephen Constantine, have now reached what is their best ever ranking since August 2010, goal.com. The biggest move in the latest ranking is of Montenegro (56th rank), who moved by 49 places while Cyprus (139) is dropped by 49 positions. The rankings have received a reshuffle after the recently-concluded 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. (ANI)
