I-League: Upbeat Aizawl FC look to seal double against Mumbai FC
Aizawl [India], Mar.4 (ANI): Aizawl FC will look to beat Mumbai FC for the second time this season when the two sides lock horns in the twelfth round of the ongoing I-League at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium here today. Mumbai FC have not conceded any goal in their last three matches and, therefore, it will be quite a challenging feat for second-placed Aizawl FC to find the back of the net in the clash. Ninth in the table with nine points from eleven matches, Mumbai FC have not been having a good season so far. Apart from securing two wins and three draws, they have suffered six defeats to add many woes to Santosh Kashyap. One amongst their defeats is at the hands, or rather at the feet of Aizawl FC on their home turf. A goal by Al-Amna had ensured a win for Aizawl FC in the match which ended 0-1 in the favour of the highlanders. Speaking ahead of the match, Mumbai FC coach Khalid Jamil, who has been under a lot of pressure from the fans, commented, "We are prepared for this match, and we have a chance to win." He also insisted that although all away games are challenging, his team have to do better to avoid relegation. He also praised the performance of Aizawl FC, saying "They have been having an excellent season." Meanwhile, Mumbai FC defender Lalchhawnkima expressed, "I am very lucky to be getting no pressure from our coach." He added, "Though we have not been getting results, I believe we are the better team." The Aizawl coach also anticipated, "It will be a tough game. Every player will have to give their 100 percent for us to win the match." The ex-Mumbai FC gaffer divulged that key player Lalruatthara will be unable to join the Aizawl FC squad due to injury but other players are available for selection. If Aizawl FC manages to clinch a win, it will cement at least the second spot for them for another game week, inching towards their maiden I-League trophy. (ANI)
