Sub-junior National Hockey C'ship: Rajasthan beat Mumbai 2-0

Hojai (Assam) [India], Jan 8 (ANI): Rajasthan brushed aside The Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd 2-0 in their Pool A clash on the fourth day of the 8th Hockey India Sub Junior Men's National Championship here at the Hojai Hockey Stadium in Assam on Monday.

Sub-junior National Hockey C'ship: Rajasthan beat Mumbai 2-0

Hojai (Assam) [India], Jan 8 (ANI): Rajasthan brushed aside The Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd 2-0 in their Pool A clash on the fourth day of the 8th Hockey India Sub Junior Men's National Championship here at the Hojai Hockey Stadium in Assam on Monday.

The winning goals came from Manish Choudhary (6'), who has been having a good tournament so far and skipper Sachin (19').

In another Pool A clash, Telangana Hockey lost 1-4 to Hockey Madhya Pradesh.

The winning team got off to a strong start with captain Abdul Rahman scoring in the 12th minute followed by a 24th minute goal by Zaid Khan. They ended the first half with 3-0 lead when Aditya Chhetry scored off a penalty corner in the 32nd minute. Though Telangana Hockey scored a goal in the 53rd minute through skipper Aravind, they were nowhere close to Hockey Madhya Pradesh's goal conversion rate. Shubham Kahoria scored the fourth goal in the 58th minute through a penalty corner ending Hockey Madhya Pradesh's score-line with 4-1 victory.

In a Pool D match, Sports Authority of Gujarat - Hockey Academy beat Hockey Gujarat 6-1.

It was Parth Jeed who starred in their win with three scintillating goals in the 60th, 65th and 67th minute. Interestingly, it was Hockey Gujarat who had started the match on a positive note with a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute through a field goal by Akshay Thakor. They held on to the lead almost entire match but dropped their defence standards in the last 10 minutes of the match which resulted in Sports Authority of Gujarat- Hockey Academy scoring six goals between 60th and 69th minute. Viveksinh Rajput (62' and 68') and Shivam Yadav (69') were the other goal scorers for the winning team.

Hockey Uttarakhand, on the other hand, scored a fine 11-0 win against Hockey Jammu and Kashmir in Pool D encounter.

Dragflicker Boby Singh Dhami (6', 12', 14', 40', 56') was the star of the match with an awesome five goals to his name. Lalit Negi (39', 41', 63') too had a great outing with three goals and a double by Ankit Singh Majila (43', 66') and a goal by Dikshit Joshi (21') to help their team take home the winning points. In another Pool B match, Bengaluru Hockey Association narrowly beat Kerala Hockey 1-0. It was Prajwal R Bijwad who scored through a well-executed penalty corner in the 54th minute that saw his team through.

Hockey Him beat Bengal Hockey Association 2-1 in a closely-fought Pool B match. It was Neeraj Kumar Yadav who scored both goals for the winning team in the 8th and 39th minute via penalty stroke and penalty corner respectively while Bengal Hockey Association's lone goal was scored by Shovan Biswas in the 22nd minute.

In another closely-fought match, Citizen Hockey XI beat Hockey Coorg 3-1. With a 2-0 lead in the first half scored by Pawan (9') and Abhinandan (27') respectively, Citizen Hockey XI held on to the lead despite a 59th minute goal by Yaswanth MK for Hockey Coorg. Abhinandan scored his second goal in the 64th minute to ensure his team notched up the winning points.

In a Pool C match, Assam Hockey beat Hockey Madhya Bharat 3-0. Rahul Verma (5', 27') scored a double in this winning pursuit while Mrinal Roy (33') scored the team's third goal and help them win comfortably.(ANI)
