Sub-Jr Women's Hockey C'ship: Puducherry hammer Manipur 3-0

Sub-Jr Women's Hockey C'ship: Puducherry hammer Manipur 3-0

Kaliabor (Assam) [India], Jan 31 (ANI): Puducherry eased past Manipur 3-0 in their Pool A clash of the 8th Hockey India Sub-Junior Women's National Championship 2018 (B Division) here on Wednesday.

The match saw both the teams going into the half-time break level at 0-0 as they produced a great defensive display. However, in the second half, it was Puducherry who made the most of their chances as they scored thrice to wrap up a 3-0 victory which was helped by a hat-trick from S Subasri (46', 60', 67').

In Pool B clash on the third day of the tournament, Coorg emerged as the victors when they beat Citizen Hockey XI by a margin of 5-0. Coorg produced a dominant performance throughout the match as they scored two goals inside the first half and added three more to their tally to win the match comfortably. Goals for Coorg were scored by B A Shaya Kaveramma (32'), H S Jahnavi (34'), M K Sujatha (56'), P U Ramya (58') and P T Shilpa (63').

In a Pool D match, Sports Authority of Gujarat - Hockey Academy defeated Kerala by a margin of 4-1. The match saw Sports Authority of Gujarat - Hockey Academy scored four goals inside the first 42 minutes to take a firm advantage in the match while Kerala could only score once in the 59th minute. Goals for Sports Authority of Gujarat - Hockey Academy were scored by Shreya Rathod (6'), Kashish Patel (27'), Ekta Dubey (40') and Rashi Verma (42') while M P Aarsha (59') scored for Kerala Hockey.

Mumbai School Sports Association were also victorious as they defeated Gujarat 5-0 in a Pool B match. A first half brace from Sanchi Gangurde (10', 17') saw Mumbai School Sports Association take a 2-0 lead which was extended in the second half as Kashish Mourya (50'), Amanda D'Souza (53') and Sakshi Pagar (54') also got onto the score-sheet for them.

In a Pool C match, Goans defeated Madhya Bharat by a scoreline of 2-0. Two first half goals from Goans meant that they secured a 2-0 lead as they played some attacking hockey and backed it up with some outstanding defending in the second half to see out a victory. Goals for Goans Hockey were scored by Nikita Sutar (21') and Anoushka D'Souza (25').(ANI)
