Delhi [India], Feb 26 (ANI): With an emphasis to raise the standards in umpiring and officiating, Hockey India on Tuesday announced to conduct an online test for umpires and technical officials.
The registrations to enrol for the test will begin today at 3:00 pm (IST) while the test will be conducted on March 29 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm (IST).
This online test is designed as part of a program for professional development with an aim to help the umpires and technical officials to enhance their skill-based and knowledge-based expertise. At the same time, it is also expected to illustrate the officials' knowledge levels of FIH Rules of hockey and regulations.
It will be focused on testing the practical and theoretical knowledge of the FIH Rules of Hockey 2019 and the current FIH Tournament Regulations. It is mandatory for any candidate appearing for this test to be registered with a Hockey India Permanent or Associate State Member Unit.
"While we have received great interest for the technical courses we offer for Tournament Officials; organizing this online test will only raise the bar of umpiring and technical official in India,” Rajinder Singh, Secretary General of Hockey India said.
“We have several young men and women who want to stay connected to the game by professionally pursuing umpiring and technical official courses and as such we wanted to ensure they are on-par with the international standards. We are expecting a good number of people taking up this online test,” he said. (ANI)
