Madrid [Spain], Sep 23 (ANI): Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has described Portuguese star striker Cristiano Ronaldo as the worthy successor of former Argentinian footballer Alfredo Di Stefano, who is best known for his achievements with the club.
Thanking Ronaldo for his contributions to the club, Perez stated that his stand-out figures with the team would be told from generation to generation.
"(Cristiano) is one of the key figures as he is the top scorer in the history of the club and worthy successor to Di Stefano," Marca.com quoted Perez, as saying.
"He is a stand-out figure and his legend will be told from generation to generation. An example for everyone who wears this shirt. Thank you, Cristiano," he added.
The president also talked highly of former Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane and said that the club would always be a home for both Zidane and Ronaldo.
"(Zidane) is another of our all-time references. As a coach he has entered history as one of the greatest at Real Madrid," he said.
"He is one of our biggest legends and he along with Cristiano know that this will always be his home," he added.
Ronaldo had left Real Madrid in July this year to join Italian club Juventus, in a deal that cost over 100 million Euros.
Zidane, on the other hand, had stepped down as the head coach of the Santiago Bernabeu team in May 2018 saying that the club need a "different methodology". (ANI)

With this win, NZ has sealed their final spot and will play either India or England, who will clash on Thursday at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium on Thursday. Courtesy of some fight from Marco Jansen (55 in 30 balls, with two fours and five sixes) and Tristan Stubbs (29 in 24 balls, with two fours and a six), Proteas reached 169/8 in 20 overs after they sunk to 77/5.
