Mohamed Salah wins 2018 African Player of the Year award

Dakar (Senegal) [West Africa], Jan 8 (ANI): Liverpool and Egypt forward Mohamed Salah won the 2018 Confederation of African Football(CAF) Player of the Year award for the second consecutive year.

Dakar (Senegal) [West Africa], Jan 8 (ANI): Liverpool and Egypt forward Mohamed Salah won the 2018 Confederation of African Football(CAF) Player of the Year award for the second consecutive year.
The 26-year-old forward beat his Liverpool team-mate Sadio Mane of Senegal and Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to clinch the title.
Expressing delight over the victory, Salah said that he is proud of his achievements. He also thanked his friends, family, and teammates for assisting him throughout his journey.
"I can't believe it's been a year since I was last on this stage. I've always said this award for me is very big. I love it, because I saw it when I was young. I had the dream to win one day. So now I've won it twice. I'm very proud to have won it twice," goal.com quoted Salah, as saying.
"I have to thank my family, teammates, fans, and everyone who played a role in my career to make this happen today. I would love to dedicate this award to my country, Egypt," he added.
Salah scored 44 goals for Liverpool during the 2017-18 season, helping the Red Devils to reach the Champion League final. He scored two goals for his national team in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The Liverpool star forward finished his 2017-18 Premier League season with 32 goals and was awarded the Golden Boot.
After winning African Player of the year back to back, Salah has put himself in the elite company of players like El Hadji Diouf, Samuel Eto'o and Yaya Toure.
Egypt will host the 2019 African Nation Cup which is slated to be held from June 15 to July 13. (ANI)
