Lionel Messi

Madrid [Spain], Sep 6 (ANI): Describing Liones Messi as the best player in the world, Barcelona spokesperson Josep Vives has said that star striker doesn't need any award to prove his credibility.
The comment came after the 31-year old was left out of the nominations for the FIFA's 2018 Best Men's Player award.
"We have to be clear that he is the best player in the world and in history. He shows this in every game and so we are not interested in this subject (of not winning an award). We know who Leo is and he doesn't need an award to show this," Marca.com quoted Vives, as saying.
Reflecting on their work during the summer transfer window, the spokesperson said that they are content with their side as they managed to have a quality team with less expenses being incured.
"We are satisfied on balance as the board feels that they have achieved the objectives with a squad of plenty of quality and less expensive," he said.
For the first time since 2006, Messi's name did not appear in the list of players who are in contention to win the FIFA Best Men's Player award. Cristiano Ronaldo, Luka Modric and Mo Salah are the players who have been nominated this year for the prize. (ANI)
